The quietly situated camping park with a familial atmosphere is nestled in Märkische Wälder and Lake Ferchesar, in the heart of the Westhavelland Nature Park. Here, nature still has a lot to offer: Water, beautiful forests and wonderful wildlife. Here you can see white-tailed eagles, beavers, kingfishers, as well as the endangered great bustard (a bird the size of a turkey capable of flight). We offer sports and recreational facilities for young and old, outdoor sports equipment, badminton and a soccer field, an adventure playground with sand washing, a petting zoo, a trampoline, boccie for seniors, and much more. At Buntspecht you forget the stress of everyday life and take time to relax and unwind. There is a self-service shop at the camping park. A market, a snack bar by the lake, the popular Ristaurante-Pizzeria Don Carlo with a sun deck, bicycles, e-bikes and pedal gokarts (Kettcars) for rent, and much more. The starry sky above the camping park seems close enough to touch due to low light pollution and is a real highlight when the sky is clear, as it is on Perseid nights when countless shooting stars shine. (In 2014, the Westhavelland Nature Park was declared Germany’s 1st star park.) In the surrounding area there are many sights, most of which can be reached on well-maintained bike paths: The First Airfield in the World, by Otto Lilienthal – The Ribbeck Castle with the church and the old schoolhouse (Theodor Fontane: Der Herr von Ribbeck, mit der Birn). From the train station Rathenow you can reach the main station Berlin in a good 40 minutes, eg take a tour of Berlin with a boat on the Spree, etc.
