Accessibility on campsites

A camping holiday is ideal for wheelchair users, as many sites cater to their special needs. Restaurants and public toilets and washrooms are usually built at ground level and are therefore quite easy to reach using ramps. Barrier-free accommodation is often offered, which is characterized by the fact that it has enough space for maneuvering. Low-hanging mirrors and shelves, a kitchenette at wheelchair level, grab handles in the bathroom or a shower with a stool are also among the facilities that wheelchair users need. The doors also need to be a certain width.

The campsite itself should have wide, well-developed walkways and wider parking spaces for disabled people, as close as possible to the accessible accommodation units. It is particularly nice if the sauna or swimming pool can also be easily reached by wheelchair and if sports or other leisure activities can also be enjoyed by people with disabilities.
