Two campsites awarded the EU Ecolabel: Environmental performance at the highest level

Two campsites awarded the EU Ecolabel: Environmental performance at the highest level - ECOCAMPS
ECOCAMPING Service GmbH,

On January 20, 2026, two campsites were awarded the coveted EU Ecolabel and presented at the CMT Stuttgart trade fair – an important milestone for sustainable tourism in Germany. The European Ecolabel is experiencing growth across Europe and confirms the camping industry's increasing commitment to environmental protection and sustainability.

Newly awarded camps with the EU Ecolabel
Two campsites from Germany received the prestigious award from the Federal Environment Agency at the CMT Stuttgart:

Camping Drei Gleichen - camping close to nature in the Thuringian castle region

The Drei Gleichen campsite is located in Mühlberg, in the heart of Thuringia's castle region, and impresses with its strong connection to nature. A natural swimming pond, perfectly integrated into the surrounding landscape, is available for swimming enthusiasts.

The campsite also sets a clear example in terms of energy: a large portion of its electricity comes from its own solar panels. This powers, among other things, the heat pump of the hybrid heating system. In this way, the campsite combines experiencing nature with modern, resource-efficient technology.

Hofgut Hopfenburg – Sustainability in the Swabian Alb Biosphere Reserve

The Hopfenburg estate in Münsingen is located in the heart of the Swabian Alb Biosphere Reserve and was designed with sustainability in mind from the very beginning. Particularly impressive are the colorful circus and shepherd's wagons, lovingly restored from old materials, which offer a popular alternative to traditional camping.

The campsite's "Ark" is home to heritage breeds of farm animals, making a significant contribution to species conservation. All products used are sourced regionally, and the diverse leisure program focuses heavily on nature. This holistic approach makes the Hopfenburg estate a prime example of sustainable management in harmony with the environment.

What makes the EU Ecolabel so special?
The EU Ecolabel is the standard recognized throughout the European Union for companies that want to be role models in environmental protection. For over 30 years, the European Ecolabel has been certifying more environmentally friendly products and services.

The requirements are demanding: Businesses must meet 22 mandatory criteria as well as some of the 45 optional criteria. You can find more information here:
