Hungry, thirsty and exhausted, we check in at the Ecocamp Schachenhorn. We set up camp under a willow tree. How easy it is. Extend four supports and you're done. When it gets dark, I put the pug in the camper with a guilty conscience. But Holly is delighted - as a dog, she immediately understands the sleeping cave principle. Later, I climb into our snail shell with her. We are well equipped for the night with sheets, large blankets and a sleeping bag. Although the temperature drops below ten degrees, our living cave feels warm, dry and cozy. The bed is not too hard or too soft. Everything is perfect. Holly snores passionately. It was a good idea to drive over the Bodanrück after all, because I'm exhausted and fall asleep quickly.
Four o'clock. The pug isn't the only one to wake up from his sleep. There's drumming, cracking, and thundering. What's going on? Oh, it's raining. It sounds like we're stuck in a popcorn machine while it's running. I think it's going to be a heavy rain. But it's only drizzling, as I notice when I go to the toilet. What a resonating body this snail shell is.
The next day, light rain accompanies us continuously. I am looking forward to the second route, which will take me home directly along the lakeshore without any inclines.
My dog loves going for walks in the rain. But she protests when she has to ride in the bike when it's raining. Now she's happy that she can stay in the rolling den. When I initially check to see if she's OK despite the rumbling, she only looks up briefly from her nest. My pug is extremely mobile in this mini camper.
I cycle happily on empty cycle paths. In my mind I praise the Lake Constance cycle path and also the rain, because no cyclists are coming towards me. So I roll past the attractions of Lake Überlingen - the old town of Überlingen, the Birnau pilgrimage basilica and the pile-dwelling village. To take a photo of the mini camper with the pile dwellings in the background, I venture to the shore. However, I misjudged this maneuver. I can no longer push the trailer back under my own power. A passerby is happy to help. Thank you. It is a piece of cake to get on the ferry in Meersburg. With a view of the lake and the eternally wonderful experience of crossing to Konstanz by ferry, my adventure is drawing to a close.
Conclusion: The i:woody bicycle camper has proven itself. It is also suitable for a petite, not too strong woman. And for a pug, of course. The only thing I would do next time is tackle the Bodanrück with a motor. Otherwise, I would be happy to do it again any time.
