Art at the campsite – an unexpected encounter
Camping is freedom. Your mind clears, your thoughts become light. You're open to new things, to encounters, to different perspectives. And it's precisely in this moment – as you sit relaxed in nature – that something rare can happen: you encounter art.
Not in a museum, not in the city. But right here, at your campsite. And that changes everything. The Uhlenköper Camp shows how it's done.
We experienced this firsthand at the networking event at the Uhlenköper Camp . Mosaicist and painter Swantje Crone from Lüneburg is exhibiting her works there – mosaics that blend into the landscape, reinterpreting space and nature. That's the power of art at a campsite. In everyday life, you need time and energy to visit a museum. In everyday life, you often don't have it. But when camping? There, your mind is free. There, you're not just looking for nature – you're also looking for inspiration, new thoughts, moments that touch you.
When a sculpture in a green setting captures your attention, when you stop in front of a mosaic and become contemplative – something happens: you connect with the place, with nature, and with yourself. This connection lasts.
Sustainability has many dimensions. It is also creativity, reflection, and cultural exchange. When artists and campsites collaborate, spaces are created where people can think and act differently. Spaces where a connection to nature is not only lived but also reflected – through artworks that ask questions, that provoke thought, that reveal beauty.
Experience art at the Uhlenköper Camp
Swantje Crone 's mosaics are scattered throughout the campsite. One motif is hidden on a wall near the entrance, another lies beneath your feet as you walk to the tent area. Some depict natural motifs, others are abstract – all connect with your surroundings: seasons, plants, and textures that only become visible upon closer inspection.
There's no guided tour, no explanation. You discover them by chance, while camping, exploring, and experiencing the place. That's what makes it so beautiful.
Have fun on your next visit to the Uhlenköper Camp – keep your eyes peeled! :-)
