Campsites in Lower Saxony are getting ready for climate protection
The camping destination Lower Saxony is developing into a pioneering region for climate-friendly camping tourism.
20 ambitious campsites in Lower Saxony are making themselves fit for the future as part of the Climate-Friendly Camping in Lower Saxony project. The BVCD-Niedersachsen ( Bundesverband der Campingwirtschaft in Deutschland Landesverband Niedersachsen eV . ) and ECOCAMPING accompany campsites on their individual path to climate friendliness.
- Lower Saxony is the most important camping country in Germany. At the same time, camping tourism produces 100,000 tons of CO2 every year.
- The project aims to improve climate protection on campsites in Lower Saxony.
- The long-term goal is to make campsites in Lower Saxony climate neutral by 2040.
- In order to achieve the goals, the campsites involved in the project are analyzed by ECOCAMPING with regard to their climate protection potential, advised and awarded based on their contribution.
- In order to ensure long-term successful climate protection, the public and camping guests are also made aware of more climate-friendly behavior.
