Electric vehicle through Bavaria's campsites - an adventure trip in three acts - ECOCAMPS

Electromobility and camping are trendy, ecological and innovative. Both together make the holiday experience more climate-friendly. Is it that easy? We think yes! And set off ourselves. Camping in Bavaria and ECOCAMPING will show how electromobility and camping go together on the first of three electromobile adventure trips through Bavaria from August 17th to 22nd, 2021 .

Electromobility and camping – a team for the future
On the first stage along the German Alpine Road, 500 kilometers and 3,500 meters of altitude are covered in seven days exclusively with electric vehicles. The travel caravan explores impressive mountain panoramas, gentle alpine meadows and idyllic valleys with an electric camping bus, electric car and electric cargo bike with caravan. Every day the destination is a different campsite along Germany's oldest holiday route.

All roads lead to electricity
The caravan stops wherever it pleases. While the vehicle recharges its batteries, the passengers also recharge their batteries with new impressions, sun and strength. When you arrive at the campsite, the roof tent is opened, the bicycle caravan is set up and the electric cargo bike is hooked up to the socket: relaxation can begin. You can even go on an electric camping holiday in Bavaria without having your own camping equipment. Most campsites offer rental accommodation: these range from colorful circus wagons to luxurious 'glamping villas'. So you don't need a tent or your own camping vehicle for 'e-mobile' camping in Bavaria - all the amenities for a relaxing holiday in nature are already there if you wish.
No own electric vehicle? For anyone looking for relaxation who would like to try out e-mobility on vacation for the first time, many campsites also have rental vehicles that can be used to explore the surrounding area electrically. The offer ranges from comfortable to sporty – driving fun included!

Electricity at the campsite
At the five campsites, the travel team fills up the electric vehicles and provides information about electric camping. It shows what a climate-friendly and active vacation can look like with an electric cargo bike and tent. For those who prefer traveling with electric cars, there are camping ideas from simple to luxurious. Vacationing with a camper van is also possible using electricity; the team has an electric camper with them. At the end of the day, even the strongest electric battery needs new juice, and then the question of where to find the next charging station arises. The team has tips for safe route planning.

On the way on the E-Alpine Road
The first adventure trip leads along the e-mobile German Alpine Road. The journey starts on August 17th in Ostallgäu at Via Claudia Camping in Lechbruck on the northern edge of the Alps. A day later, the travel team travels to Rottenbuch to the terrace camping at Richterbichl. Now it's getting more mountainous: on August 19th the caravan will move further south to Krün to the Alpen Caravanpark Tennsee. The following day we go to Camping Brugger at Riegsee in Spat-zenhausen - with a unique view of the nearby peaks of the Ester and Ammer Mountains. August 21st is a travel day because you have to cover 150 kilometers and over 1,500 meters of altitude on the electric cargo bike. The trip ends on August 22nd at Camping Lindlbauer in the natural paradise of Inzell.

Things go even further in early autumn : from October 11th to 15th, the adventure trip takes you to Franconia and shows how Franconian campsites are getting ready for electric mobility. From November 8th to 10th, the tour culminates at campsites in the Bavarian spa triangle as part of the Bavarian Camping Day International.

The experiences of the adventure trip will be shared live on our travel blog and social media.
