Nature thrives on diversity. And so does a camping holiday in nature. The camps recognised by ECOCAMPING shine with a variety of sustainable ideas..
n the Swabian Alb, for example, campers spend the night at the Hofgut Hopfenburg site near Münsingen under 270 fruit trees, 120 wild fruit trees and protected by many hedges. Spending the night in the orchard tastes good, as around 1700 litres of the farm's own apple juice ends up on the breakfast buffet every year. Guests can also buy the juice along with other regional foods, handicrafts and One World products in the farm shop. The farm is also home to endangered breeds of domestic animals such as Poitou donkeys, forest sheep and Hinterwälder cattle. The team of employees includes people with disabilities, who work in all areas as a matter of course.
The farmstead not only builds its own accommodation using organic building materials, but also operates its own combined heat and power plant, uses green electricity and its own electric vehicles. Rainwater is treated in three biotope ponds. Those travelling without a tent or camper van can spend the night in circus or shepherd's wagons, tipis or yurts.
Some camps produce their own energy, such as Holmerhof campsite at the entrance to Bad Füssing, which has equipped its building roofs with solar panels. The campsite also generates electricity and heat with a wood chip system. The wood comes from their own forest. So you can splash around in the farm's own thermal water pools with a clear conscience. This campsite generates a lot of energy, consumes as little as possible itself thanks to energy-efficient technology and therefore still supplies enough electricity for several households in Bad Füssing. And if you want to do something for your health, you've come to the right place.
In the Lüneburg Heath, the Uhlenköper Camp ear Uelzen impresses with its sustainability in many areas. The camp's own natural swimming pool does not use chlorine or chemicals. You can shop in an environmentally conscious way in the adjacent organic shop. The staff at the campsite travel quietly and emission-free with electric vehicles. If you are travelling by public transport or don't want to move your camper van, you can hire e-cars, e-bikes or e-transport bikes. Because sharing instead of owning is a top priority at the Uhlenköper Camp.
You don't even need a car at this camp. A camping area has been specially designated for cyclists and hikers. They can use a common room with cooking facilities, charge their mobile phones in special lockers or store perishable food in special refrigerated compartments. And those who prefer a more comfortable stay can stay in a room at the new Hotel elf Eulen. Adventure-seekers and fans of the Urmel children's books can spend the night in the Mupfel, the Schwurbelnest or the Schlummertonne.
Opportunities - Work - Prospects (CAP Rotach)
The name says it all at CAP Rotach, the integrative campsite with hotel, guesthouse and café in Friedrichshafen directly on the shores of Lake Constance. Here, it is not only guests with disabilities who are catered for, half of the staff are also severely disabled. They have succeeded in entering the primary labour market. But that's not all: CAP Rotach pursues a holistic approach that incorporates ecological, social and economic aspects in equal measure. Waste is recycled or avoided wherever possible. Any waste that does occur is carefully separated. The resort's own solar power system supplies electricity and heats the hot water. This holiday resort saves over 91 tonnes of carbon dioxide annually through the use of renewable energy.
Guests with disabilities enjoy the barrier-free campsite. There is also a care room or two rented bathrooms available, as well as care beds in the hotel or guesthouse rooms. The leisure facilities also include people with disabilities.
